Watch out for... vishing? 🚨🎭
Another variant of phishing strikes again, vishing. Vishing is a recent development that is becoming increasingly popular and dangerous. Vishing is where cybercriminals try and scam you using fake ai generated videos.
Technology today enables cybercriminals to use AI-generated deepfakes to trick you into performing actions by disguising themselves as colleagues via digital conference calls.
But, luck for you there are clues such as distortion, small glitches, or irregular behaviour. And if they get into your call, it’s likely they used a strange email address too. If you pick up on these things, then it’s important that if they ask you to perform irregular activities, you cross verify with the source.
🧠Think smart: Because they count on you not checking, it’s important that you don’t panic and if in doubt, don’t click. If a phishing attempt is suspected, it is critical that you report this activity and do not click on any links or attachments. Better to be safe than sorry.
